If there’s one item that every woman should have in her closet that never goes out of style, it’s a white dress shirt. And by 2020, we’ve seen multiple variations of this. My favourite? The oversized white shirt. It’s become a major style staple in my wardrobe as it’s versatile enough to dress up or down.
Whether you’re looking for a classic white shirt to wear to work with pants and heels, a more casual look to pair with denim and sneakers, or a chic coverup to throw over your swimsuit and slides, an oversized white shirt is a must-have.
What I love about it most is whether you wear it loose, opt for a front tuck or even a full tuck, the oversized white shirt offers a crisp and clean look that makes any outfit look put together.
THE OVERSIZED WHITE SHIRT
Enter the Elbe Shirt from Universal Standard. Not only does this white button-down boast a flattering half button sihouette with placket covering (AKA no gaping or button popping), it’s made from the most luxuriously soft, stretchy fabric for maximum comfort and movement. It’s a shirt I can wear from morning to night, and feel comfortable and confident the whole day through.
HOW I STYLED IT
With so many ways to style an oversized white shirt, I took a bit of a different move here. It’s typically standard practice to pair an oversized shirt with form fitting pants. I wanted to mix it up by opting for loose fitting boyfriend jeans (meet Bae Boyfriend Jean) instead of a skinny jean. I love the understated chic look of pairing a looser top with a straight, wide leg bottom. There’s something very NYC about it and I’m totally here for it. I also added a black jean jacket (the Kelsey Denim Jacket) thrown over my shoulders for an added touch.
