Money Saving Tips for Serial Shoppers
Shopping is NO minor obsession… honestly, it’s become a bit of an addiction for me at this point! Thankfully over the years, I’ve come up with some money saving tips for serial shoppers!
CREATE A BUDGET:
you really don‘t know how much you’re spending til you actually begin keeping track of it. Doing this will allow you to see exactly how much you spend on a monthly basis, and then be able to create a realistic budget to control your shopping while still enjoying the little things in life that are new clothes.
SEEK SALES:
I truly do not understand why anyone shops without seeking sales. Almost all your favourite stores (like Ardene) likely have sales regularly, so pay attention to patterns (like every Friday) or simply subscribe to their email lists so you get notified whenever a sale comes up. I almost never pay full price for items, because there’s no doubt that you’ll be able to get it at a sale price if you have just a bit of patience.
SAVE, DON’T SPLURGE:
Sure it’s tempting to blow $150 on that cute skirt, but you can likely get one that looks just as cute for 1/5 the price. Knowing I’ll only wear this for a season or two, I snagged this cute leopard wrap mini skirt for 2/$20. Also keeping on trend with my summer style strategy of spending less and getting more, I never splurge on sunglasses. Instead of dropping a couple hundred on a pair, I find cute styles like these cat eye sunglasses for only 2/$15. I’d much rather have multiple pairs that I can switch up, and not worry about dropping in the lake or scratching when I throw them into my beach bag than one pair that I’m going to be concerned about ruining or losing.
BASICS, BABY:
There is nothing wrong with sticking with the basics, in fact, it’s the best way to stretch your spend! I love finding affordable essentials like this basic high neck tank and then mix and matching it with different bottoms to create different looks. I bought 3 different tanks for $15 at Ardene — and I can rest assured knowing that I’ll wear all 3 of these shirts again and again, on their own in summer or layered with sweaters or cardigans in the fall and winter.
That’s it for my $$$ saving tips for serial shoppers! Hey, I never said I was here to prevent you from shopping… just share a little word to the wise!
