EASY WAYS TO OWN YOUR ACCESSORY GAME
One of the most intimidating concepts of fashion is JEWELRY! Am I wearing too much? Am I wearing too little? Can I mix and match tones? Can I wear rings on more than 2 fingers? SO. MANY. QUESTIONS.
Something that I had struggled with for a long time is how and when to wear certain pieces of jewelry. Some people have a select few pieces they wear everyday, some only wear jewelry for special events, and others wear a different piece every single day. The truth is, over time I realized that there really are no strict rules for accessorizing when it comes to your jewelry! It’s all about what you feel comfortable in, and how you want to express yourself through your accessories.
A few tips I follow:
- Try to minimize your mixing of gold and silvers: If you’re wearing a bold gold necklace, skip the silver studs and wear the same tone. Not to say I never mix tones, but I try to only do it if the pieces incorporate both silver and gold together like this 3 Ring Mixed Metal Necklace, or if the pieces are super small and dainty, and not super close together on your body. Example: OK to wear a gold necklace and a silver ring. NOT OK to wear a gold necklace and flashy silver earrings
- Match your jewelry tone to the hardware or detailing on your clothing! It accentuates the pieces individually as well as your look as a whole when you’re consistent with the metals and jewelry you wear. See one of my recent posts here to see what I mean.
- Layer, layer, layer! Whether it’s multi-length necklaces, a duo or trio of bracelets, or a set of rings, the look of layering is so in right now, and it’s a sure way to make certain pieces stand out a little more! PRO TIP: it’s best to layer with daintier pieces! Avoid layering chunky pieces as they will look too busy together and be distracting.
I curated three simple & easy to copy, jewelry-accented looks that I wear on the reg with my favourite pieces from Park and Buzz, so you can get inspired and curate your own looks for different times and aspects of your life!

LOOK #1: Everyday
“On the daily”
I really like to wear chunkier pieces with my everyday looks, and simple, classic pieces when I’m dressed up. This because when I dress up, I typically have my hair done, my makeup done, and I wear an outfit that I want to stand out. With this, I have enough going on and don’t need my jewelry to act as anything more than a simple addition. With my everyday looks, I like to mix and match pieces to make a plain outfit a little more bold or trendy. With this simple look consisting of jeans and a long sleeve that I would be found wearing to school or running around on the weekend in, I wanted something to make it stand out a little bit, so I opted for the addition of marble studs and a beaded tassel bracelet to make it a little more fun! The pattern and textures on these pieces bring attention to them, showing that you made a bit of an effort in getting ready and didn’t just throw on an outfit mindlessly. Little do they know…

LOOK #2: Casual Friday
“Weekend ready”
Workwear accessorizing can be one of the most difficult things to navigate. Obviously you don’t want to overdo it, but showing your style and personality through your look can be hugely important to how you present yourself at the office or in the workplace. When it comes to my office accessories, I tend to focus on just one piece. Whether thats a great necklace or a pair of earrings, I prefer to stick to one and let that be my statement! After a long, draining week at work, it’s nice to end it off with a look that gives off good spirits. For my black jeans, block heels, and patterned blazer Friday Fun-day look, I opted for something that would stand out and complement weekend-vibes I’m trying to give off. Since Double Back earrings are all the rage right now, these Aurora White balls do just that. I NEED to grab a couple more pairs in matte black, blush, and luxe grey.

LOOK #3: Girls Night Out/Date Night
“All dressed up and everywhere to go”
When I head out for a night on the town or a dinner date with my guy, I will almost always be seen wearing black – and I’m sure it’s the same for you! With black, there is nothing better than GOLD! As much as I love silver, it just doesn’t go with black the way gold does. When I get dressed up I tend to stick to very simple and dainty pieces. I want my jewelry to accent my outfit, not overtake it. So for this GNO look, I kept it classy (before the wine anyways…) with some simple gold bar studs, and a gold bar choker. These studs are one of my favourite pairs of earrings, as they can be worn with literally any outfit! The non-traditional shape of them make them a little more edgy (and compliment worthy) than your basic circle studs. I also wanted something around my neck that would be understated but sophisticated. I really find that often less is more when it comes to necklaces, which is why I love the Solid Gold Bar choker. It’s so versatile as you can wear it with a white T and jeans to spruce up your casual look, or as a piece to pull your more dressed-up look all together. It comes in rose gold and silver too, and I may just need to order one of both as they work with EVERYYYYYTHING.
