DO WHAT YOU CAN
Hello loves! It’s been a minute since I shared a Monday Mantra… and by minute I mean like, months & months… truthfully, when I started this blog, I thought it would be simple way to have at least one consistent, weekly post, but as I got more and more into writing, I realized I LOVED sharing photos along with my posts, and I just really enjoyed writing posts that could be accompanied with imagery, making them more personal. Now that I’m looking back on my past few Monday Mantra posts, I’m realizing that these truly are the most personal, but at the same time very relevant to probably many of you! So back my popular demand…
I’m back with a Monday Mantra! This quote by Thedore Roosevelt really stuck with me when I first heard it. For many of us, we’re so ambitious, and driven, and passionate, that we think we should constantly be excelling and moving toward something bigger and better. We get so caught up in what we think we should be doing to get to where we could be, that we forget to recognize where we are and what we’re doing now.
As millennials, it’s in our DNA to want immediate gratification. We don’t like to wait for things, and that’s not a bad thing at all. It just goes to show how motivated we are. But it can also be our downfall when we focus too much on wanting everything now and forgetting that things can’t happen overnight.
Everything takes time, and everything happens for a reason. Whether it’s a lesson to be learned, a failure to be had, or a success that happens after blood, sweat & tears, I always have to remind myself that I’m right where I need to be, at this time. Don’t worry about where you think you could be or you wish you were, but rather worry about how you can get there, and then do everything you can to make it happen. But if it doesn’t happen tomorrow, or in 4 months, or in 1 year, don’t sweat it — just keep moving, because any size step forward will get you there faster then when you look behind or pause and wish you were somewhere else.
I’m a strong believer that when you do all that you can, no matter where you are, you’ll get to where you’re meant to be. Just don’t forget that success doesn’t happen overnight! Whether its a career goal, fitness goal, relationship goal, or whatever else it may be, keep working at it, and don’t compare yourself to others. YOU are YOU, and what other people do or have are not at all comparable to what you do and what you have, and who you ARE. Just remember this when you’re wishing you were further ahead with your goals and dreams. Keep pushing, and that is how you’ll be able to manifest what you really want and make it happen.
After all, Teddy Roosevelt said it best
“Do what you can
with what you have
where you are”
